AFTER YEARS OF HEARING AND PRAYING:
We have a little announcement to make. I wish so many of you could have known us from the beginning. Our lives are a testimony to what a REDEEMER that God is. We are a true testimony to what God can do with a couple of knuckle-heads. (those testimonies are for another day) We fall (A LOT), but we know Who picks us up when we land flat on our faces. Once we got a taste of that REDEEMING love of God, we couldn't turn back. Once we witnessed it in each of our kids, WOAH! I cannot count the times He has picked us up and brushed us off. We have witnessed over and over that all we have to offer is our "YES" to the ONE that has radically turned our lives right-side-up. That "overflow" thing.....it's a powerful force. It's one we cannot contain. So, the Twiet's are about to take this overflow on the road......in a plane...... to........... http://projecthopeful.org/village-of-hope/

Dearest People We Love:
It is with sincere love, excitement and a desire to serve that Kiel and I (and our family) write to tell you that we firmly believe we have been called to the mission field. We began to seriously explore this possibility about three years ago when God gave me a vision for what we believe is a Biblical response to orphans, widows and families in crisis outside of the United States. What started as “Covenant Village, Almost Homes” to be planted in Ethiopia grew into God’s plans. After the proposed property purchase in Ethiopia fell through, the Holy Spirit urged so to wait. So we waited, quite confused at the time, BUT GOD.
Fast forward to early 2012, when during several conversations with Amy Block, I learned that we shared a very similar vision and heart for orphans and widows. It was quickly apparent that I was to give my written vision of this “VILLAGE” to Amy for God’s glory in Guatemala. Amy BEAUTIFULLY combined our Holy Spirit breathed visions into one BEAUTIFUL, God-glorifying, Biblical concept to care for the most overlooked children, and eventually vulnerable women and families. I also envisioned a mobile community care clinic, which was confirmed when a mobile clinic was offered to us to be used free of charge! The urge to GO has never left us, despite some would-be “obstacles.” Instead, God has leveled our “obstacles!” From the time Amy and I began our discussions and vision sharing, we both knew that EVENTUALLY we would join them on the ground.
Project HOPEFUL agreed as a ministry to partner with the Village of HOPE (“VOH”) and to use some of our God-given resources for VOH. We agreed – in prayer – to wait until the time was “right” for us to go. We believe that time has arrived.
Kiel and I visited Todd and Amy in April and the Holy Spirit’s nudging was confirmed – the time is now. We observed Village of Hope’s needs and listened to the Blocks’ hearts. We had confirmation in all areas, but most specifically because their greatest needs match our greatest strengths and experiences.
Kiel has been in the construction industry and often in a managerial role for over 20 years. He has co-led and supported Project HOPEFUL fiercely since it was founded. He is a mentor and teacher of The Word with a passion for orphans and vulnerable women. His effectiveness in mentoring young men and fathers is one of his greatest assets.
I have been the Executive Director of Project HOPEFUL for almost 7 years. Through these experiences, coupled with our adoptions, I built and defined relationships with people who are key to the success of Village of HOPE, particularly with regard to the needs of children who have HIV or other special needs. With a passion for orphans and families, and personal experience raising a large family while running a large ministry, I am ready for the many challenges we will face at Village of HOPE. My experience raising and educating children with significant intellectual disabilities has given me a passion for mentoring and supporting mothers.
The older Twietmeyer children are also an asset, since several of them intend to become missionaries. More importantly, our children have a pulse on the realities our ministry group faces. Their hearts and compassion and desire to serve are immeasurable. Our kids know despair and redemption. It will be our greatest joy to watch the Lord use His children for His glory.
Aside from the fact that we believe God Himself has called us to this place, our history, careers and life experiences reflect the way that God has been beautifully preparing us for our roles on the ground. We are excited to do our part to complete the vision for Village of HOPE and to expand the vision toward care for women and children from the community by introducing more of Project HOPEFUL’s already existing programs.
Our experience in church planting will also be an asset. We stand on the TRUTH that God doesn’t always send the most qualified, but He qualifies the sent – a fact that our lives have proven over and over. Concerns for the health of the ministry and my position as leader of Project HOPEFUL have helped to confirm our calling and decision to go as soon as possible.
As we move forward, we have humbly asked God to “….SEND US…” Isaiah 6:8 – a prayer Kiel and I have prayed for years. We will be incredibly blessed to serve alongside the team there, for the sake of the Guatemalan people and Village of HOPE. We are committed to the vision because this is personal.
I plan to maintain my position and duties as Executive Director of Project HOPEFUL. The time zone in Guatemala is the same as Illinois most of the year. The flight-time to the United States is short, which will allow for various speaking engagements and meetings/conferences that I may need to attend. Little will change in that regard.
Kiel will be leaving his position with the Union to give all of his time and talent toward building, giving, loving and serving at Village of HOPE. Is this scary? YES . . . but this has been a long-time answer to his specific prayers.
We are asking for your prayers as we set out to prepare, to gather our support, and to radically change our lives, once again. We have NEVER been disappointed after our BIG “YES” responses to His calling on our lives. We are dealing with scattered emotions and practical fears, but beyond that, we couldn’t be more positive that this is HIS course for our lives.
We pray to be in a position to go by October/November of this year. That will take some mountain moving, but we serve the Mountain Mover. Thank you for loving us through so much in our lives and for adding this new adventure to the mix. We need you now more than ever before.
I will go before you and will level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron.I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name.

Because we KNOW that God gave us a theme and a verse for this mission:
|En la tierra como en el cielo. (Mateo 6:10 )|
We know the verse we hold on to when we move forward in something we can't wrap our earthly minds around....We have moved in this, A LOT:
